This course presents fundamental information on how to deal with the media during a HAZMAT emergency.
Objectives
Upon completing the course, employees should:
- Be able to describe what a Public Information Officer (PIO) does during a HAZMAT incident to protect a company's reputation.
- Know how rumors get started and how employees can unwittingly spread misinformation.
- Understand why it is important that the media is provided with accurate, up-to-date information about an incident.
- Know the role that they should play in talking to the media and the things that they should never say.
